Ales, Brews & Ciders recently opened up in Kalyani Nagar and we happened to attend a tasting there. It is quite a ginormous place – so ginormous that you can have a rock concert there. Here’s a brief summary of my experience at the tasting:
The Paneer Lasooni Tikka was really good. It had a distinct garlic taste and the paneer cubes were soft as well. The Maggi Sushi which had maggi filled with cheese failed to get my attention.
We also had the Stuffed Mushrooms in Paprika Sauce and Tandoori Thecha Mushrooms. While both were fiery versions of spice level from different geographies, they were really good as they remained moist and firm throughout our battle of photographs.
The Five Cheese Pizza which had a blend of mozzarella, processed cheese, cheddar, Monterey Jack and parmesan was a deadly combination. Just one slice of that rich pizza made you feel drowsy.
The Mutton Sheekh filled with Liquid Cheese was my favourite for the day. The kebabs were melt in mouth tasty and the liquid cheese made me go for more every time.
For mains, we had an array of dishes. From the molten cheese layer of baked pasta with cheese strands going high as humans in the room to the creamy and flavourful Kari Kapitan which had the goodness of coconut milk. The Indonesian Lamb Curry prepared using the typical south east Asian ingredients was at par with the richness of the Kari Kapitan. Not to forget the fried rice and the basil rice that made for perfect accompaniments for the curries. The Mutton Rogan Josh had beautifully cooked pieces of mutton in a rich gravy.
While I skipped desserts, others were savouring the rich brownies and fried ice cream.
A big shout out to Heena, Alok and Team Ales, Brews & Ciders for inviting and hosting us.
