The food truck concept has been picking up in Pune. Breaking Bread is no stranger when it comes to the food truck line up. This food truck is inspired by the TV show Breaking Bad and is headed by Nishith Shetty, Kaustubh Bhagnure, Niraj Shetty and Niranjan Tilak.
The truck is painted in blue and orange with quirky phrases and a few dialogues from the show itself. Zazz Media recently held a food meetup at Breaking Bread and The BTeam was more than happy to join.
The food truck is parked on ITI Road, Opp. Crossword, Aundh and operates in the evening. Our meet started with the Virgin Kokam Mojito. A decent kokam drink with a minty punch and spices was surprisingly refreshing and a good way to kick start our evening.
The Hot Mess & Chicken in a Mess are vegetarian and non-vegetarian variants respectively. The Hot Mess come with french fries, spicy baked beans, salsa and cheese. I am a fan when the food is messy and this turned out to be my favourite dish of the evening. No wonder it is their best seller! All my favourite dishes put together makes this mess a winner.
The Chicken in a mess came with an additional marinated and grilled chicken.
The Cajun Cottage Cheese Potato Burger came next. It had a cajun spiced cottage cheese and potato patty, tomato and lettuce with a super soft bun. The texture of the patty was soft and amazing & I believe it’s a treat for all the vegetarians out there.
The Pune Toasties were super-sized toasts with an Indian spiced mashed potatoes filling with mint mayo. Another classic combination I found well suited to my taste buds with the umami flavour being pretty subtle.
The Chicken Toasties were the carnivore variant of the Pune Toasties and had shredded chicken pieces along with mint chutney and cheese. I liked the flavour combination here but preferred the Pune Toasties over this one.
The Jerk Chicken Burger was a jerk marinated char grilled chicken with a chipotle mayo, a pineapple slaw, tomato and lettuce. Needless to say, the bun was super soft. This one was pretty decent with good flavours from the jerk marination.
The Goan Chicken Burger consisted of shredded chicken in a goan spiced marination along with tomato, lettuce and cheese. This one was a little on the sweeter side with an after taste of the vinegar which was rightly spotted by my friend Akshay Dongre a.k.a The Shutter Nerd.
In the end we had a dessert in the waiting called the Banoffee Sandwich. It was a combination of caramelised banana, Nutella, condensed milk, peanut butter and cheese. I found it to be average and was confused by the use of cheese.
It was a pleasant evening and experience at Breaking Bread. I would like to thank all the Friends of The BTeam who joined us, Kaustubh, Niranjan, Nishith and Niraj for hosting us and Zazz Media for inviting us. I look forward to visiting the truck more often!
Cheers Team Breaking Bread!
