Aufside, a sports bar situated on the third floor of Kumar Pacific Mall is the perfect place for sport enthusiasts to watch their games and hog on some mind boggling food and drinks. It has an indoor turf for football which is known as Hotfut.
How cool would it be, to play football and then move over to Aufside for some drinks and food, hence their tagline, “From pitch to pitcher.” Aufside has an indoor AC seating and an outdoor seating.
They have autographed cricket bats, jerseys and a lot of sports memorabilia on display all over the place. Board games, foosball and darts keep you entertained but what will get you interested is the sports quiz that takes place during the live screenings. The ambiance is perfect for matches and will be loved by sports enthusiasts the most.
I, along with The B Team and a few other bloggers were invited for the bloggers table at Aufside and my happiness knew no bounds. All geared up and excited, we met the owner and our host for the night, Mr. Varun Punjabi.
Now the menu has been excellently designed with a football and cricket theme. Drinks and food sections have been named with common cricketing and football terms. We started off with the mocktails and were able to try them all.
The Vuvuzela made using orange juice, hazelnut, blue curacao and ginger syrup was served in glass with a football base. The blue curacao along with the lemon slice in the drink made it very aesthetic. The drink was a hint too strong on ginger so I did not like it as much.
The Perfect Hat-Trick was made using coffee, chocolate and cream. It almost tasted like cold coffee to be honest. Rabona, another mocktail was made using apricot, lemon and mint and was pretty decent.
The best among the mocktails had to be as the name suggests, The Winning Shot. It was a perfect composition of strawberry, cranberry, orange juice and lemon. It was super smooth and sweet and the lemon just enough to cut through the sweetness. That completed our round of drinks.
As for the starters aptly called the Starting Line Up, they were divided into strikers, wingers and midfielders. We had quite a variety from all and there were a few ups and downs all along.
Amongst the strikers, we had the Crispy Chicken Tenders, Grilled Prawns, Herbed Chicken and Crispy Beef.
The Crispy Chicken Tenders were finger shaped chicken evenly coated with bread crumbs and crisply fried until they reach a state of golden brown perfection. They were served along with a dip and they tasted absolutely delicious. They had a great crunch to it and were the perfect strike to begin with.
The Grilled Prawns were tossed in a garlic lemon sauce and they tasted just fine.
The Herbed Chicken was wonderful for me. It was marinated in herbs, grilled to perfection and garnished with olives, tomatoes and bell peppers. The margination infused a lot of flavours into the chicken and it was absolutely delightful.
The Crispy Beef to my surprise was a big knock out of the park. The beef was coated evenly in a honey laced brown sauce and tossed with bell peppers. The beef was perfectly moist and succulent and the sweet and tangy sauce complimented the beef.
We then moved on to the midfielders. We had the Nachos and I was absolutely blown away. They were placed in a circular ring around a sour cream dip and topped off with cheese and salsa. The salsa was sweet and tangy while the cheese had melted to creamy and gooey perfection. I didn’t really need the sour cream dip since the cheese and salsa had completely satisfied my taste buds.
The Jalapeno Cheese balls that came next served with a good old sweet chilli dip were rather disappointing. They were generously loaded with cheese but had very little jalapenos. It was missing that spicy kick of the jalapenos.
The Sautéed Mushrooms were a little soggy and did not have any distinct flavour. The sauce could use a little more spices.
The Olive Bruschetta was a good dish. Freshly made salsa and olives were laid upon a bed of roasted garlic bread and tasted brilliant. It was refreshing and at the same time was flavourful.
The Honey Chilli Potato Bites were another disappointment for me. They were dry and lacked a balance of spiciness and sweetness.
We also had the Cheese and Jalapeno Poutines which is a Canadian dish originating in the province of Quebec. It starts with the french fries which are smothered with cheese and melted making it a messy affair. It is creamy, cheesy, gooey, hot and amazing all at the same time. I polished off the poutines clean off the bowl such was the awesomeness of this dish. Fries and melted cheese could never have tasted better.
We were pretty full by now and the main course hadn’t even been served. Called the Champions’ League, it started off with a bang. The stuffed crepes were savoury pancakes stuffed with ratatouille veggies baked in a rich and creamy white sauce. The sauce was a rich and creamy consistency and was perfectly balanced. The garlic bread served as a side could have used some more garlic though.
Next came the Grilled Cottage Cheese with a side of veggies and rice. The cottage cheese was stuffed and grilled. A sweet tomato based makhani sauce was poured over it which tasted heavenly. It was very subtle and creamy. The veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned and went well with the sauce.
The Chicken Roulade came with a side of veggies and rice. It was a chicken breast stuffed with sun dried tomatoes and olives and smothered in a white sauce. The chicken was just a little dry to cut through but the sauce added just enough moisture to overlook it.
The Beef Stroganoff was served in a ring of rice. It consisted of sautéed beef and mushrooms tossed in their signature sauce. The sauce had a good depth of flavours and tasted decent.
The BBQ Pork Chops were dry rubbed, barbecued and topped off with a peppery brown sauce. The chops seemed to be a little dry for me. But the side of mashed potatoes and veggies won me over. The mashed potatoes looked stunning and tasted even better.
It all ended with the chocolate mousse with two different designs. One was a little hard while the other one was the perfect moist and gooey consistency.
It was a great meal and the quiz in between the IPL matches played the perfect source of entertainment for us. In the end, it was our bloggers table that got most of the quiz answers right and won some amazing vouchers. We even had a go at the darts. We got some funky and quirky coasters in the end as a souvenir. A big thank you to Team Aufside to hosting us.
